

| Hyogo Prefectual Center for Advanced Science and Technonogy is an academic
facility that supprts advanced research and development projects by private
corporations, small and mediumsizeed companies in the prefecture, and researchers
using theSPring-8 large-scale synchrotron ratiation facility. It forms
part of Harima Science Garden City, which is a central community in the
Nishi-Harima Technopolis Project. |

Sophisticated AV Systems for Academic Exchange |
With an emphasis on data communications, the Conference Center features a large conference hall fully equipped with a simultaneous interpretation
booth and large-screen video equipment, and other advanced facilities.
The traditional Japanese design of the accommodations and garden forms
a uniquely comfortable setting for exchange by scientists and engineers.
These facilities are also available for use by the general public for training
programs and seminars. Designed according to the principles of the Harima
Science and Garden City Urban Design Plan to achieve harmony among man,
nature and science, this conference center blends artisicly with the greenery
of its surroundings.

| The large conference hall is equipped with a simulltaneous interpretation
booth for internatilonal conferences as well as video equipment and 346
seats with writing tables. The brick-covered walls house acoustic materials,
and large ferroconcrete arches serve as pillars to support the celling. |

The seminar rooms consist of one large 86-seat room and two smaller 20-seat rooms suitable for holding meetings, training sessions and other gatherings.

Advancing Industry through Vital New Technologies |
| The R&D Support Center provides a setting for cooperative research
and development among industry, academia, and government in the form of
leased lavoratories, Experiment and Analysis Laboratories and similar facilities.
Management of the center is integrated with that of University of Hyogo,
which undertakes joint research with corporations in the prefecture, provides
ongoing education for corporate researchers, and performs other activities
in order to more effectiviley support advanced research and development
relating to Synchrotron Radiation. |
